Stugis Motorcycle Rally History

The first of this kind of rally was witnessed in 1938 through the initiative of the Jackpine Gypsies which was then a motorcycle club. There was a single race that had nine participants and a small crowd as the audience. Most of the events after that were then focused on motorcycle rally which was mostly on bike races and stunts. By 1961, the hill climb and the motocross races were included. The Sturgis Rally continued ever since only pausing a bit during WWII and in some instance when there was a problem with the supply of gasoline in 1942.

More and more people have attended and have witnessed the Sturgis Bike Rally over the years. Today the event is for the entire family as well. Parents together with their children drive on campers and trailers and on their motorcycles as well.
